Ordained to the priesthood June 16, 1973

Fr. Mickey Genovese was a passionate priest whose constant mantra was “relationship, relationship, relationship.” A man of deep faith and dedication to the Augustinian way of life, he lived his priesthood with tireless energy as a total gift to his family, parishioners, brothers in religion, and the Lord.

Immersed in parish life from 1973-1994, Fr. Mickey served the faith communities of St Nicholas of Tolentine, Bronx, NY, Assumption/St Paul, Mechanicville, NY, and St Thomas of Villanova, Rosemont, PA. Throughout this time period, he developed a deep love for couples and the Sacrament of Matrimony through his ministry as Team Priest and Executive Priest for Worldwide Marriage Encounter. Thus began a fruitful and continuing relationship with Fr Chuck Gallagher and the
PMRC.

From 1994-2006, as a member of the Augustinian Preaching Apostolate, Fr. Mickey preached for parish missions, renewals, and workshops throughout the United States. He enthusiastically encouraged and supported the development of Living in Love, suggested the creation of Preparing to Live in Love, and took an active role in promoting the Movement of Continuous Prayer for Marriage and Family (“Love Worth Praying For“) resulting in thousands of hours of monthly prayer.

In 2006, Fr Mickey was appointed the Prior of St Thomas of Villanova Monastery on the campus of Villanova University and placed in charge of the physical health and well being of the elderly and infirm friars.

Fr Mickey has served on the Provincial Council of the Augustinian Order in North America as well as the Board of Directors for the PMRC, and in 2010, was elected Prior Provincial of the Augustinian Order in North America.

In declining health and suffering complications from diabetes, Fr Mickey retained his joyful spirit, his passion for the priesthood, and his love of couples until his death in 2019.
